I came in 4 place out of 200 in my first cross country.
Sprint to the front at the begging,(100 m) and then pace yourself, so no one or not many people will pass you, but also so you wont get tired, stay at that pace for the whole entire until the last 100 m, sprint your hardest. Breathe through your nose and out trhough your mouth and only concentrate on your paceing and your breathing.

Are than tips on running cross country?
I have been running cross country for about a week now and im still struggling are there any tips that anyone can give me. We run about 2.2 miles on average a day. Thanks

My best is just keep running, don't stop in the middle of the run. You just started so your still building endurance. In order to get in shape your body first tears down your muscle so it hurts to get and shape and sometimes takes awhile. And keep a positive attitude. Good luck!!

Any tips for running cross country?
This is my first year in cross country. I'm in 8th grade. I really want to get better and make the A team! In my school there are 7 girls on the A team and the rest are B. I haven't run all summer and I do have to stop and walk sometimes. I just got new running shoes that are really nice and that helped me a lot today when I ran in them! But I really want to be able to make it without stopping tomorrow and I want to be able to be on the A team. Please give me an advice/tips you have! Thanks.

I bet you that the 7 girls on the A team want to be on the A team. So here is some advice that may help. How about being the 1 girl on the B team. That would make you the alternate to the A team if one of the girls gets injured, sick or does not have good races. Remember it is your first year on a team, you have not run all summer and your endurance is not up to speed. Is being on the A team more important than having that team have a winning season. So shoot for #1 on the B team and you may just find yourself on the A team by seasons end. I did. I was faster than my schools 8th Varsity runner. So I went to the C.I.F. Prelims and Finals as the 8th man alternate. Didn't run but still got a Varsity Letter just the same. Good luck.

What are some good tips for running cross country?
Hi, I am starting cross country tomorrow. I have asthma. I am slow too. Im not competing but I'm still going to run. I need advice on how to be faster, manage my breathing, or just any tips at all. Thanks, please answer today.
ps I have seen a doctor and am on Flovent HFA and have a ventolin inhaler. :)

Well since you have asthma. You should train your lungs by doing slow inhale and exhale exercises for like 30minutes a day then go up to an hour. My friend has asthma and after hes done breathing exercises for so long it's like he doesn't have it anymore.
When doing breathing exercises focus on trying to get your stomach to move only and not your chest.

Start packing on the miles. Run in the morning a few times a week. It makes a big difference to run more miles. Push the pace on some of your runs. There are times for easy runs, but most should be at a good medium pace. Start doing some tempo runs and hill repeats. You don't want to start intervals until you are closer to the season, but tempos and hills are great for strengthening your base.
Good luck.
