should i get a cortisone shot for my it band pain?
my it band is absolutely killling me - i took all of last week off, and biked/swam/rowed. anyway today i ran and it still hurt SO bad after running 3 miles. is a cortisone shot a good idea? i'm 17 if that affects your opinion...

Eek, I would be careful with that stuff. Have you been to a doctor? Have you put hot/cold on it? I wouldn't use cortisone just yet, as a last result, maybe.

how to cure my Ilia Tibial (IT) Band pain?
My IT Band has been bothering me for several months. I have been to physical therapy and the pain won't go away. Any suggestions?
admin answers:
Try to find a massage or physical therapist that utilizes some form of "Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization" It work much better and faster than just regular massage http://bit.ly/vNyoGK

What would cause a Band of pain around my middle thigh?
I have chronic lower back pain. It is worse at night, if I roll onto either side I get a band of pain that goes around my middle thigh, it is worse in the back of the thigh, but it feels like something tight is around it. I happens on both sides. My right leg is always tingling and numb on the back side. I have a history of hip, and knee dislocations, and arthritis in my ankles since I was 11. I am now 42.

Maybe a herniated disc, pinched nerve or sciatica.

when will lap band pain go away?
im on day 7 of getting banded and im still in so much pain i returned to work today and wasnt really wasnt ready.. im just fealing sick and my stomach hurts... if im hungry it hurts if i eat it hurts. my stitches dont come out until thurs. i thought this surgery didnt hurt and ya snap back why am i not.. is this normal what im going through??? if so when will i feel like my old self?
admin answers:
Aw, hon, you are hurting because of the surgery. See they cut you inside and rearrange organs, so yeah, you're going to hurt. Has the doctor ever given you anything for pain because there is pain medication that comes in a liquid form. And I guess by "eat" you mean the liquid diet your doctor put you on, usually something like Boost or Slim Fast shakes, a little at a time. Remember to follow the diet they put you on. You really just need to rest for a while. When the stitches come out it will help a whole lot, and the pain will go away in time. If you're in great pain please call your doctor so you can be checked to make sure there is no infection. You should be high priority, so don't hesitate. I know people who have lost a lot of weight from lap banding and they are doing just great a couple of post surgery years later! Good Luck.

am I having it band pain?
I have been having fairly sharp pains on the outside of my right quad after running and I have tried icing it and resting it a little with only slight success is this pain im feeling it band pain, because most people say it band pain is in the knee however some people get it in their quads, if i indeed have a injured it band problem has anyone used the it band strap things with any success. any suggestions would be nice, but the response better not have RICE in it---- I know
admin answers:
Lol don't worry, no RICE. :) Talk to your coach, or fellow runners, or if your running on your own, see if you can go to the store to get an upper leg brace. That should help with the pain. I know I have to do that for my knee, and it helped tremendously. Also, sorry, but for RICE, I would say only to the I part of it, ice it, and just do light runs for a few weeks. And if it doesn't heal in a couple of weeks, maybe talk to your doctor to make sure you didn't pull anything. Good luck with your running! :)
